Every matter we handle follows a defined sequence of stages. This is not bureaucratic procedure — it is a way of making sure that nothing is agreed under pressure, and that both parties have genuinely considered each step before the next one begins.
The written engagement agreement at the start of each matter sets out exactly what the fee covers and what would constitute a change in scope. There are no surprises in the billing, and no pressure to complete the process more quickly than the people involved are comfortable with.
Attentive, direct communication
Our practice is small by design. When you contact ruamjaia Law, you reach the attorney working on your matter — not an automated response or a member of staff who will pass your message on. Response times for email and telephone enquiries are within one working day.
We also write to both parties in a matter at the same time, using the same language. Neither party should ever feel that the other has had more access to information about the process than they have.

Both parties, equal access
In matters involving two parties, we structure our communications so that neither has received information about the process that the other has not also received. Documents go to both at the same time. Session notes go to both. No one reads a draft agreement for the first time in a pressured setting.
Agreements in your own language
Where possible, we draft agreements using the language the couple themselves use to describe their situation — rather than reformulating everything into standard legal phrasing first. The legal effect is the same, but the document is more likely to be understood and honoured over time.
Long-term review, not just completion
Our post-divorce financial review service exists because we recognise that circumstances change. An arrangement that worked well at the time of signing may need revisiting several years later. We offer a structured way to do that without reopening the whole settled matter.
